Galileo facing The Inquisition!

This painting was made by Joseph-Nicolas Robert-Fleury in the 19th century. I chose this painting for the important information about history of mankind. One of the strongest stages of the story was the Inquisition. In this painting the artist highlights all the elements discussed in class in two parts the scenario that Galileo is in the trial and painting that gives the background to the same painting. The occasion is very important since Galileo was one of the most important scientists of the time.
One of the most important applications of this painting is the use of 3D effect in two dimensions. The artist tells us two stories at the same time. A story in the background and history of making them participate trial at the same time. The artist gives a tragic tone to the whole scene with the color combination being the only important light to highlight the most important persons in judgment.
Galileo studies against the geocentric theory is presented as jarring opposition from the Catholic Church to Copernican system which enabled the ecclesiastical authorities accusing him of "vehement suspicion of heresy". Despite their claims of impossibility because of age and illness, he was intimated to travel to Rome in February 1633 to face trial whose verdict will was read on June 21 and declared him guilty of having defended and taught the doctrine Copernican and ordered to recant. Galileo, must declare a protocol that "abjured, cursed and detested" his past mistakes under. On June 22, 1633, in the Dominican convent of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, Rome, the judgment is issued: Galileo is sentenced to life imprisonment (sentence immediately commuted residence for life by Urban VIII) and his work is forbidden . He also pronounces the formula of abjuration which the Holy Office had prepared and thanked the ten cardinals who had defended, and especially the three cardinals who had called for his acquittal. Finally, the sentence was this: the obligation to pray once a week the seven penitential psalms, for a period of three years, plus not stray too far from his luxurious villa in Arcetri, worth latter that was raised immediately.
The artist was well known at the time to highlight tragic incidents like this in the history of mankind. The use of art is important to remember not to forget and not make the same fatal errors
